In the late 19th century a
preacher and his family lived in the deep woods of Jacksonboro on
Parkers Ferry Road; long before it was built up to what it is today.
During a beautiful sunny day the preacher's daughter went outdoors to
play in the woods, she played and played but didn't return home before
nightfall.
The preacher and his wife grew worried over the
whereabouts of their only daughter, where could she have gone? Acting
on impulse the preacher grabbed his lantern, lit it, and went out to
the woods in search of his daughter. While searching for his lost
daughter the preacher was hit by a train and killed instantly. To this
day the preacher still has his lantern lit and continues to search for
his lost daughter. She was never seen again, he was never seen
again, his lantern remains as the only evidence of his existence.
